What are the signs of high blood sugar?
Some of the common signs of hyperglycemia include headache, lethargy, stomach pain, blurred vision, frequent urination and extreme hunger and thirst. There
are some symptoms that are considered emergency symptoms, and these include
vomiting, feeling confused, difficulty breathing and ketones in the urine. Ketones
develop due to high glucose levels, and these substances appear in the urine
once your body starts burning fat for energy. In
order to be considered normal, the level of blood sugar (children, women and
men included) must always be below 120, and this should be approximately two
hours after eating a meal, or after fasting. If
you ignore the warning signs of hyperglycemia, which could lead to the
development of nerve damage, vision problems (including blindness), kidney
disease, stroke and heart disease.
