What is
Hypertension or high blood pressure?
High blood
pressure is a complex condition with multiple genes and environmental causes
and / or roots. Not distributed evenly throughout the population. Up to 55
years of age, is more common in men than in women. It is especially common
among African Americans, who tend to develop it at a younger age and more
frequently than whites. It is also common among older Americans-individuals
with normal blood pressure at the age of 55 have a lifetime risk of 90 percent
of developing this disease.
The causes of
high blood pressure.
Hypertension is one of the diseases that have
resulted from the typical diet rich Western societies. When in early 1975 I
emigrated from Germany to Canada I was surprised to learn about the eating
habits of Americans and noticed fast food chains and clothes everywhere, see also the book "Fast Food Nation". High blood
pressure is twice as common among people who are obese and among those who are
not.
