Can I take medicine or not for high blood pressure? Any side effects with high blood pressure medicine?

You must first thing try to diet and exercise. Diet that is mostly vegetarian will lower blood pressure and help you avoid heart disease.

Medications naturally have side effects that are vastly different for different people. Even the most common and established diuretic can damage your health.

Blood pressure ranges.

Blood pressure ranges.

The normal blood pressure range for a healthy adult is 120/80 .This is usually regarded as being in the safe zone, though some physicians would like to see it lower.

Finding out which blood pressure range you are in can be confusing when you get your reading. When, I first used my blood pressure monitor the reading was 132/80.The top number the systolic pressure was a little high at 132 but the lower number the diastolic pressure was ok at 80.Although it was nothing to panic about I decided to make a few lifestyle changes and within six weeks my reading was down to 115/70.

Blood Pressure Range     Systolic    Diastolic

Systolic Diastolic Normal   <120 -         <80
Pre-Hypertension               120-139 -   80-99
Stage One Hypertension      140-159 -   90-99

Stage Two Hypertension     160+ -         100+

The best thing to have is your own blood pressure monitor. Many people suffer from "white coat hypertension “when they are at the doctors office. This means they get higher readings than they actually have.
